Another frustrating weekend. Rubbish driving on Saturday saw car 74 qualify 37th of 42. 20th would have been the best possible with LCE 2-11 and Exige cars being far more powerful.

In race one a good start saw car 74 climb up to 28th. After the safety car it took three laps before the tyres started to work, but as I pulled away from the group behind me the cabin started to fill with smoke. I pulled into the pits to ensure that a little oil as possible went on the track. The crank seal had failed so the weekend was finished.

To be updated…..

Qualified 6th in Lotus Cup Europe Production Class. Finished 5th and 6th in races.

The new Bardahl engineĀ  and gearbox oil did the job very well…the engine running cooler by about 2 centigrade, even in the extended race.

The cooling system now seems to be sorted. The window is back on the runner, but for how long?

I freed up the throttle linkage and cleaned the throttle body / lubricated the spindle. It’s not perfect but just about drivable. It may be that the cable is from a duff batch….will check with SW who had 3 faulty cables earlier this year.

Oil changed to Bardahl XTR C60 RACING 39.67 – 10W60

More repairs to the front clam and re-primed. Just needs a couple of coats of silver.

Annoyed as the Dash 3 shift lights were not working.

The car seemed to run ok for the first two quiet sessions, but seemed to be running over the optimum temperature. This was due to air in the cooling system. On the third run the throttle stuck open at 7200 revs, and then it was idle or max revs. Additionally the drivers window disappeared into the door.

Interestingly the car appeared to be the quickest on the straight, but probably due to a better exit speed.
